Wehmeier Portraits

Wehmeier Portraits is a boutique portrait studio led by Rob & Elise Wehmeier in Orland Park, Illinois, specializing in family portraits and high school senior portraits for families throughout the southwest suburbs and greater Chicago area. Our studio creates custom portrait artwork designed to be displayed in the home, including family portrait sessions, senior portraits, milestone photography, and professional headshots.

For more than three decades, the studio has focused on creating meaningful portrait artwork for families during life’s transitions—the moments that matter but often go unmarked in our busy lives.

Over the years, we’ve noticed a pattern. Families often reach out for practical reasons—a graduation, a new baby, a milestone—but something deeper is usually happening. Someone in the family is sensing that time is moving, that a chapter is ending or beginning, and they want a way to pause and acknowledge it.

Our portrait sessions are designed as a collaboration rather than a transaction. Before we ever pick up a camera, we talk about what is changing in your life and why this moment feels important. During the session, we create space for genuine connection rather than perfect poses. We pay attention to how families move together and guide them toward the closeness that already exists beneath everyday routines.

The portraits that result hold more than appearance; they capture how a family was together at a particular moment in their story. Over time these images grow in meaning, becoming part of the visual history of a home.

Rob leads the photographic work and creative direction of the studio. Elise guides clients through the experience, helping with planning, portrait design, and the final presentation of finished artwork for the home.

Sessions typically take place in our Orland Park studio or at carefully chosen outdoor locations and are intentionally unhurried so families have time to settle into the experience.

Wehmeier Portraits specializes in family portraits, high school senior portraits, milestone portraiture, and professional headshots.

We serve families throughout Orland Park, Homer Glen, Tinley Park, Lemont, LaGrange, Palos Park, Burr Ridge, and the greater Chicago area, and we are available for portrait commissions throughout the Midwest.

All work begins with a conversation about what matters most to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our work is best described as classic, relationship-centered portraiture. Rather than following short-term trends, we focus on timeless lighting, natural interaction, and thoughtful composition. The goal is to create portraits that feel authentic to the people in them and that will still feel meaningful decades from now. We aim to create images that show not only how someone looked, but how people were together during an important moment in their lives.
Family portraits and high school senior portraits are the primary focus of our studio, along with milestone portraiture and professional headshots.
Our studio focuses on creating finished portrait artwork designed to live in your home and be enjoyed every day. We offer a curated selection of archival portrait pieces, including: • Custom framed wall portraits • Signature large-format portrait artwork • Handcrafted portrait albums • Matted gift prints for family members • Professional headshots and milestone portraits When clients purchase portrait artwork—such as wall portraits, albums, or prints—we also provide complimentary social media–sized digital files of those selected images for easy online sharing. All portrait artwork is produced using professional archival printing and materials designed to last for generations.
Yes. When you purchase portrait artwork—such as wall portraits, albums, or gift prints—we include complimentary social media–sized digital files of those selected images for sharing online. Our studio focuses on creating finished portrait artwork designed to live in your home rather than files that remain on a device. The included digital images allow you to easily share your portraits with friends and family while the printed artwork becomes part of your daily life. During your portrait viewing and design appointment, we’ll help you select the images you love and determine how you would most enjoy displaying them in your home.
Our portrait experience is designed to be simple and guided from start to finish. We begin with a conversation to learn about your family, the moment you want to capture, and how you would like to display the finished portraits in your home. Next comes the portrait session itself, typically held in our Orland Park studio or at a carefully chosen outdoor location. Sessions are relaxed and unhurried so families have time to settle in and interact naturally. After the session, we invite you back to the studio for a portrait viewing and design appointment where you’ll see your images and select the portraits and artwork you would like to enjoy in your home. From there we oversee printing, framing, and finishing so the final pieces are crafted to last for generations.
Yes. Every portrait session begins with a consultation. This conversation allows us to understand what is happening in your life that makes this portrait meaningful. We’ll also talk about clothing, location, who will be included in the portrait, and how you may want to display the finished artwork in your home. Taking time for this planning step helps the portrait session feel relaxed and intentional rather than rushed.
Yes. We guide every client through clothing and styling as part of the planning process. During your pre-session consultation, we’ll talk about the overall look of the portrait, where the finished artwork may be displayed in your home, and how clothing choices can support the tone of the image. We typically recommend coordinated colors and classic pieces that photograph well together without feeling overly matched. For family portraits, we help coordinate outfits so the group feels cohesive while still allowing each person’s personality to come through. For senior portraits and professional headshots, we discuss wardrobe options that reflect the stage of life or professional image you want the portrait to represent. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and confident so the focus during the session can remain on connection and expression rather than worrying about what to wear.
Portrait sessions take place in our Orland Park studio or at carefully chosen outdoor locations throughout the southwest suburbs.
Because each portrait session is reserved specifically for your family, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule. Session fees are applied toward your portrait experience and may be transferred to a new date when advance notice is given. If illness, weather, or an unexpected situation arises, we’re always happy to work with you to find another time. Late cancellations or missed appointments may require a new session reservation. If you have questions or need to adjust your appointment, simply reach out and we’ll be glad to help.
