Aurea Lux

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the creative force behind Aurea Lux, showcased at the Aurea Lux Gallery on Instagram. As a freelance Nigerian-born artist, I am dedicated to pursuing my passion for photography, despite holding a bachelor's degree in engineering. My journey in photography began with formal education in studio photography after college, which laid the foundation for eight years of creative exploration across various subjects that inspire me.

My work aims to tell captivating stories, evoking thought, emotion, and reflection while drawing connections to the African Diaspora. South Carolina's rich cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the African American experience, continues to shape my photography, and I am committed to contributing to the celebration and preservation of this history and culture.

I am honored to have been recognized as the "Best International Artist" for my winning photograph, "The Hornblower," at the Hampton County Watermelon Festival's juried art contest in June 2024. This accolade has further fueled my dedication to capturing the resilience and richness of the African American experience through my photography.

I am additionally excited to share that in October 2024, my work was accepted by the South Carolina Artisans Center in Walterboro, South Carolina, as part of a juried competition. This opportunity means a great deal to me!

I invite you to explore my portfolio on Instagram at @aurea_lux_ and extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support and patronage. Your interest in my work means the world to me. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.

Warm regards,

Mark Oshoke
