I began seriously using a camera at 16. My father owned a photography studio where I learned to shoot portraits, select backdrops, position lights, coach clients to pose, and develop film in the darkroom. We became sought-after photographers for little league teams and couples headed to the prom. Because I was blessed with the tools and experience, I became the lead high school photographer for yearbook and other events. Thus I carried a camera everywhere I traveled. I did this through college and beyond. It never occurred to me that I might make photography a career. I was way to insecure to put myself "out there." I did, however, earn a BA in counseling, and MA in Education, and a Doctor of Ministry with an emphasis on coaching pastors. And yes, I took pics throughout all those years. After 40+ years in the pastorate, I decided to now, finally, launch an encore career as a professional photographer capturing headshots, portraits, and travel, I have a few personal projects in mind using camera and narrative to share compelling stories about people and the lives they live.
