Kurt Arnold

Visual Captivity

Kurt Arnold, born in Grenada, West Indies and raised in Brooklyn, New York started taking photographs at the age of 10. Self-taught, it was in the streets of New York City that he honed his craft and developed people photography as an art. He developed a fascination for capturing distinctive facial expressions, thoughts, emotions, body language and movement through candid street photography. Kurt’s passion for capturing the natural essence of people remains the focal-point of his commercial work in portraiture, event and performing-arts photography.

Visual Captivity was established in the year 2003, in Brooklyn New York. Its primary focus then, was to exhibit Kurt Arnold's photographic artwork, which progressively attracted interest for commercial photography work. For the most part, Kurt's 'artwork' was and remains focused on documenting human emotions, facial expressions and body language, by photographing his subjects unknowingly. The resulting images and body of work appealed to various parties in need of Editorial, Portraiture and Event Photography services, bridging Kurt's passion to commissioned assignments. In the years 2007 thru 2012, Visual Captivity was based in North Bondi, Sydney Australia, where Kurt's artwork was showcased at Art Galleries and various venues, including the US Embassy. In the year 2013, Kurt returned to New York City, where he later established his own storefront Studio in the Cobble Hill/ Brooklyn Heights section of Brooklyn, NY -- where he continues to operate today.
