Kathleen Murphy Photography
I am obsessed with light. I love the way it dramatically informs and shapes what we see. From the age of eight, I have owned a camera. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic. Eventually in high school, my father, a great photographer, gave me his treasured Nikormat. I went to college to become a teacher, but I also took photography classes and interned in a commercial photography studio. At the studio, I learned how to utilize various lighting techniques, shoot fashion and commercial work, develop film, and make prints in a darkroom. Six cameras later and I am still as enamored with the art of "painting with light" as the day I held my first camera.
