Gary is an experiential-based photographer whose primary goal is to help everyone he photographs be comfortable and at ease during photo sessions or when he is on location photographing an event. Making it an enjoyable experience is how he can get warm and inviting smiles of everyone he photographs.
His photography journey began while serving in the US Navy. He is a self-taught photographer honing his skills with the help of mentors, coursework, workshops and research. Photography brings out the creative side in him - whether it is during a portrait session, photographing an event, capturing architecture, capturing a night scene or sky or a beautiful land or seascape. In 2013, he launched Altoonian Photography to provide a wide range of services for his clients.
Gary believes photographs should be hung on walls for all to see. Some of his most prized possessions are photographs of his family that are 85 to 105 years old and believes you never know the value of a photograph until it is all you have. His role as a photographer is to create legacy photographs for those you love and for those that follow.
Gary has won numerous awards for his work and has exhibited in many juried fine art shows and exhibits. His work has appeared on the covers of several magazines of trade organizations, in regional magazines and in the Wall Street Journal.
