BJ Gillman

BJ Gillman, the photographer behind BJ Gillman Photography, developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors while growing up on a family farm at the base of the Rocky Mountains. That early connection to nature continues to influence the subjects and moments he is drawn to capture.
His passion for photography began in high school, where he learned to develop black-and-white film in a small makeshift darkroom. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with light, texture, and the art of preserving a moment in time.
Later discovering he is red-green colorblind, BJ embraced the unique perspective it brings to his work, often gravitating toward tones and compositions that highlight contrast and subtle detail.
After rediscovering photography in the digital era while photographing professional motorcycle racing, BJ’s work has expanded to include a wide range of subjects—each image reflecting his curiosity, perspective, and appreciation for the world through the lens of BJ Gillman Photography.
Through my lens, I hope to share the beauty, energy, and quiet moments that make the world around us worth exploring.
