I believe in documenting all days that represent "real life." Those days could be the most monumental days of life and also the seemingly mundane days...because, let's face it, those days are actually anything but mundane.

Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, is where my Marine and I currently call home. We have two "puppies," Koda and Kenai (yes, those are the names of the brothers in Disney's Brother Bear). I met my husband when I was sixteen years old, but we don't consider ourselves high school sweethearts despite the fact that we did date in high school...long story, but well worth it.

My background in photography is…non-traditional. I am self-taught, motivated, and flexible. By "trade," I am a high school English teacher, but I am blessed to be able to turn my hobby into something more, with the support of my husband and family. With that being said, I love narratives, characters, and resolution (pun intended). Life is about embracing the “real” things. Photography has allowed me to embrace those “real” things and I want desperately to help you embrace those too by documenting your narrative.

I like to think I am a mix of Rory Gilmore (Gilmore Girls), Jessica Day (New Girl), and Joanna Gaines (Fixer Upper). I love the practicality and intellect of Rory, the whimsy and quirkiness that is Jess, and the simplicity and class of Jo (and shiplap/farmhouse sinks).

I love all things maroon and orange, as Virginia Tech is my alma mater (Go Hokies!). A very wise bumper sticker once asked, “If God isn't a Hokie, why do the leaves turn orange and maroon in the fall?” And if you ever have the chance to visit Blacksburg and experience the camaraderie, I have no doubt you would agree.

Coffee and [sarcastic] humor are my fuel. Caffeine addiction is a real thing, an addiction with which I have completely come to terms. I appreciate banter, so I hope we can exchange some good-hearted laughs and create some beautiful photographs in the process.
